Welcome to #include

If you were to take any Computing or ICT option class in any UK mixed gender school, the chances are you would not find a diverse range of pupils, and it is fairly likely that most of the pupils would be male. Whilst most Computing teachers are very happy when students do opt to take the subject, many realise that we are not doing enough to show female students and students from minority backgrounds that Computer Science is interesting, useful and a subject they should seriously consider.

Within the fantastic range of school teachers and industry professionals who are CAS members, many people have expressed interest, frustration and a desire to do something about this imbalance. We have set up #include to provide a coordinated approach towards this difficult problem.

What is the aim of #include?

“Computer Science for all” - to increase the diversity of the students studying Computer Science; to challenge the stereotypes and to create accessible opportunities to experience the subject first hand.

How will we achieve these aims?

  • Collate together the expertise of teachers, lecturers, researchers and professionals in one easily accessible place (our Wiki)

How can I support #include?

  • Visit our Wiki and add your thoughts, resources and expertise. The wiki is publically editable so anyone can contribute
  • Follow us on Twitter to keep up to date with news, developments and articles of interest
  • Add our logo to your website, blog, Twitter page etc. to show your support
